GETTING STARTED: GRADUATE ADMISSIONS
UNIVERSITY REQUIREMENTS*:
____ Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
____GPA of 3.0 (on 4.0 scale) in last 60 hours of coursework taken
____18 hours of upper-level courses in proposed area of study
(varies in some degree programs, consult Graduate Advisor)

UTSA GRADUATE SCHOOL - APPLICATION CHECKLIST:
1. Apply online at www.utsa.edu/graduate and submit the application. Print out the
confirmation of submittal form for your records. Write down your User ID and
password to track your status online.
____ A. Register your current and previous faculty members to request a Letter of
Recommendation, if required by the program. (Ask the recommender
at least a month prior to registration of the recommendation.)
____ B. Upload your Statement of Purpose/Letter of Intent and Resume/Vita
(if required), to the online application prior to submittal.
____ C. Upload an additional essay (if required) for admissions to the graduate
program of interest.
2. Please contact and order your previous universities and colleges you have attended
and request for an official transcripts to the following address:

3. Sign up for appropriate standardized tests for the graduate program: GRE, GMAT,
TOEFL and/or IELTS. Once taken have the scores submitted to UTSA - Graduate
School code: 6919. If required for the program of interest, verify at:
www.utsa.edu/graduate
4. Review the Graduate Admission Requirements at the Graduate School
website and the Graduate Catalog for any additional documents required
for your program of interest. http://www.utsa.edu/graduate
5. Apply for Financial Aid. http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/
6. Schedule an on-campus visit and meet with the advisor of record.
AFTER APPLICATION IS SUBMITTED:
Track your status of your application,
by logging back into your online application. You are able to track your status on the "Home" section, under "Track your status" to verify if any items are missing.
Visit the ASAP system to view classes offered for the semester.

Financial Assistance
Opportunity for funding may be offered for graduate students in a variety of forms:
- Departmental fellowships and scholarships
- University grant monies (yes, free money for graduate students!) Fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) as soon as possible in January for the upcoming academic year. You may be eligible for up to $2,500 per academic year of grant money.
- University scholarships and fellowships
- Teaching, research and graduate assistantships
- Nationwide scholarships, fellowships and grants
- Low-interest loans.
